September, 2011:

Fear has found a new home at Universal Studios Singapore

We’re soon approaching that time of the year again, the time to unleash the spooks and let mayhem, fear and evil descend upon us. And this year, there’s no scarier fright night than at Universal Studios Singapore, with Halloween Horror Nights- which promises to be the largest Halloween event ever staged in Southeast Asia.

Be warned.

The team at Universal Studios Singapore is pulling out all the stops to make its inaugural Halloween Horror Nights the largest, most intense and most horrifying Halloween event ever produced. It’s definitely not for the fain-hearted.

After all, the event is modeled after the ever popular and successful events at our sister parks- Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. In fact, the first Halloween Horror Nights began 21 years ago. Its popularity has soared to great heights ever since, resulting in the global sensation it is today.

We hear there’s a massive scare-labyrinth that include a brand new haunted house, multiple scare zones, a selection of Universal Studios Singapore’s theme park rides and attractions and a street party.

Welcoming guests to the event is the Director, a sadistic filmmaker who thrives on macabre movie-making and filming tortured subjects. He will greet guests as they enter through the looming gates. Once inside, guests will be cast for their final cut.

As guests navigate through the park, they will ‘step right up’ to a midway of mayhem, escape from the pandemonium-filled streets of a post-apocalyptic metropolis, and come face-to-face with deformed carriers of a flesh-eating plague.

The main attraction within the event is an elaborate haunted house – with an Asian twist. Located inside one of Universal Studios Singapore’s soundstages, guests will enter a dilapidated Peranakan mansion which, to this day, is still haunted by a demented matriarch.

The best part of the event is the fact that select rides and attractions, including Revenge of the Mummy®, Battlestar Galactica® and Accelerator, will be operating.

Halloween Horror Nights will run for seven nights over two weekends, from 21 to 23 October and 27 to 30 October 2011, from 8 pm to 12 midnight each evening. It’s going to be a separately ticketed event and not included within regular theme park admission. Do note that daytime theme park guests will be able to upgrade their daytime park admission tickets in order to re-enter the park for Halloween Horror Nights.

Tickets for the event, priced at S$60, will be available from 1 September 2011 onwards. Special ‘RIP Tour’ packages, Resorts World Sentosa hotel guest specials and group discounts are also available. Discounts are also available for Universal Studios Singapore annual pass holders and daytime theme park guests. Opening of Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium!

We are extremely proud to announce that we will have a new member to our family of attractions and this member comes in the form of a… museum! In case you are wondering if this is going to be like most other traditionally themed museum which features a primary exhibit, do continue to read on and find out more because we promise you that this is a museum like no other!

The Maritime Experiential Museum and Aquarium (MEMA) is Singapore’s first maritime museum and what makes it even more distinctive from other museums is that, it boasts a themed environment, along with a variety of complementary exhibits. All together, it brings to life the Maritime Silk Road via life-sized historic ship replicas, shipwreck artefacts, interactive exhibits and educational programmes for everyone.

Here’s a little sneak peek:

Look out for the Jewel of Muscat, a replica of a 9thcentury Arab dhow that was a gift from the Sultanate of Oman to the Government and People of the Republic of Singapore. It will be housed permanently at MEMA, where you can learn about its construction and historic voyage from Oman to Singapore.

Another unique attraction within the museum is the Typhoon Theatre, a 150-seat 360-degree multimedia theatre, where visitors “board” an Arabia-bound sailing ship and are taken on a voyage that takes on a perilous turn when it encounters a storm.

We look forward to welcoming you to MEMA. Look out for our announcement of its opening date!
